22-year-old man shot and killed in by Miami-Dade police detective

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – On Thursday, 22-year-old Kentrill Carraway was shot and killed by a Miami-Dade police detective in northwest Miami-Dade County.

According to Detective Marjorie Eloi, Carraway was shot around 4 p.m. at Northwest 76th Street and Northwest 20th Avenue. He told that the detectives with the department’s gang unit were investigating a narcotics case and they found a few men on the back side of a residence.

He was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Eloi told that the verbal battle between Carraway and Eugene started when the detectives approached the men, and Carraway pulled out a gun. Eugene ordered Carraway to drop the gun. Since he didn’t obey the order Eugene was forced to shoot at him. Detective George Eugene has been working with the Miami-Dade Police Department’s gang unit since 9 years.

The family of Carraway was in stress outside the Ryder Trauma Center as he was inside for treatment. Terry Carraway said, “I’m here and they still won’t let me see my own son”. The family told that Carraway was shot in the back by the officer.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting case.
