Douglas Juiffre, 58, of Pompano Beach was recently arrested for owning a escort business that made, on average, $200,000 a month. A very thorough, detailed scheme, Juiffre utilized an office space and turned it into a call center. There, many were employed to take incoming requests for “dates”. Several more people were hired as drivers who shuttled the 15 prostitutes to the clients which were located in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
Fort Lauderdale Police and the Broward Sheriff’s Office worked together to bust the operation. A confidential informant tipped off authorities, and eventually helped an undercover cop land a job at AAAA Associates, Juiffre’s company, as a driver.
The undercover cop went through a rigorous hiring process which included two interviews with the boss, displaying his loyalties and ability to be trusted with large sums of cash, and had to study a company handout called, “What makes a good driver.”
In this handout, the undercover cop explained that one of the attributes that Juiffre believed made a “good driver” was his ability to, “[push] the girls to go from date to date as fast as possible.” the handout continued, stating that this pressure, “…would benefit everyone and [the driver] could easily expect to make $300 per night.”
The affidavit was also able to get Juiffre talking about pricing while wearing a wire. Juiffre explained that an average cost of a 1 hour date with a prostitute was $180, but if the client wanted two prostitutes, or a prostitute for 2 hours, he would charge them $340 — a special — $20 off regular price. The breakdown of profits was — $70 to the prostitute, $30 to the driver, and $80 to the office.
Juiffre used several different marketing tactics to promote AAAA Associates including the “escort” section of Backpage.com, Craigslist, and in Broward New Times. Juiffre is being held in the Broward County jail on $225,000 bond and was arrested on August 7th, convicted of 5 felonies. His No. 2 person, Joshua Rubenstein, 34, was arrested on similar charges and if jailed on $180,000 bond.
